Electrical Design Engineer - Space Systems
This is a full time position.

Bigelow Aerospace is currently seeking a bright, self-motivated Electrical Design Engineer specializing in Space Systems.

Description:
Bigelow Aerospace, the world leader in developing a privately funded manned space station, is seeking highly motivated avionics electrical engineers. The successful candidates will be responsible for defining requirements, performing detailed engineering designs, and producing physical manned spacecraft flight hardware. Subsystems will include power generation and distribution, battery charge controllers, system control and data acquisition controllers, and communication controllers including RF, Ethernet, and Spacewire. Applicants should also display familiarity with fault tolerant design techniques and radiation hardened component selection. Experience with circuit schematic capture and simulation, as well as PCB layout, is preferred.
Successful candidates will be highly inventive and innovative in their approach to tackling complex electronic and network systems design and implementation constraints utilizing both COTS and innovative solutions. Experience with digital controls and experience with formal design methodologies including AS-9100 is a plus.
Qualifications:
Senior Engineers - Minimum of 10 years experience with an accredited BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent program. Special consideration will be given to applicants with additional skills / experience in design for space environments, high reliability fault tolerant systems, radiation hardening, or EMI shielding and grounding.
Mid-Level Engineers - Minimum of 5 years experience with an accredited BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent program. Special consideration will be given to applicants with additional skills / experience in design for space environments, high reliability fault tolerant systems, radiation hardening, or EMI shielding and grounding.
Junior Engineers - Minimum of 3 years experience with an accredited BS degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent program.
Responsibilities:
- Participation in subsystem requirements definition.
- Participation in subsystem design, development, prototyping, and testing.
- Design constraints include high reliability and/or long-lifetime LEO hardware.
- Evaluating 3rd Party OEM subsystem components including generating specifications, reviewing designs, procuring components.
- Developing documentation including test procedures, component analysis summaries, circuit schematics, technical engineering notes, subsystem and device requirements, and participating in overall subsystem architecture design.
- Performing test and debugging at board, component, and subsystem levels.
- B.S. in Electrical Engineering
- 3-5 Years experience in developing avionics systems.
- U.S. Citizen
